Steampunk is a science fiction genre which has a historical setting (especially based on industrialized, nineteenth-century society) and characteristically features steam-powered, mechanized machinery rather than electronic technology(1). Finding its roots in 19th century novels such as Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein or Jules Verne’s 20, 000 leagues under the sea, steampunk literature developed quickly during the 90s and has now become highly influential on today’s global culture (movies, video games,  fashion…)
