The plight of refugees is very much in the news. We see terrifying pictures of people trying to escape the terrors and misery of their home countries at the peril of their lives. How can things come to this and what must these men, women and children be going through ? What can be going through their minds as they step into their journeys into the unknown ? Numerous authors have tried to tackle what it is like to be an alien in a strange land. Works of fiction can help play a role in allowing us to see the world from an alternative perspective.
